Question: For this final discussion with your group, discuss your ideas for the final essay on Do the Right Thing. Remember that the essay requires that you support an original interpretation of the film by analyzing the formal elements in at least three key scenes. So you may discuss your interpretation ideas and/or your scene observations and analysis. It is often helpful to try out ideas with someone else before writing a paper, and this discussion provides that opportunity. So help each other hone interpretations and develop scene analyses. Everyone should participate in the discussion by posting their own ideas and by responding helpfully to at least two classmates. This is a short week, and to make this discussion valuable, you need to complete it by December 15th, at least one day before the final essay is due.

If in your paper you want to refer to a classmates' ideas to support your own, you may do so. Just make sure you give credit to that classmate (e,g,, "In our small-group discussion [name of classmate] made the point that this scene uses sound to enhance [particular meaning]."
