Question: Discuss your beliefs on marketing research and consumer privacy. To what extent should information collection be allowed? In contrast, what aspects of information collection should be regulated, and by whom?
Finally, if you were only given the following two options to express your beliefs on the topic, which would you choose and why? (Yes, you have to take a stand and choose one)
1.) I do not tend to care about anyone gathering information on me since I do not have anything to hide. I would much rather have everyone be an open book so that individuals, agencies, and bureaus could track those that needed to be tracked for whatever purposes are desired.
2.) I care greatly about anyone gathering information on me because I am afraid of how they might use that information. Beyond that, the way I choose to live my life is entirely my business and, with very few warranted exceptions, I do not believe anyone has the right to collect data about me, my habits, or my behaviors.
