Question: There are times when a policy is developed and enacted only to find that there were unforeseen health consequences that resulted from it. An example of a policy that had unforeseen negative consequences is redlining. While redlining was a financial strategy enacted by mortgage lenders, insurance agencies, and others, it has led to many unintended health outcomes.

Look for other policies that have had unintended health consequences. Discuss what the actual intent of the policy was and what the unintended health consequences of that policy were. Discuss how you think these consequences could have been avoided.
