Question: To avoid discrimination in hiring, employers should not ask questions about race, religion, national origin, religion, gender, marital status, age, etc.
While it's not part of the interview necessarily, employers may try to look to social media to gain more information about a candidate. Search for five social media posting that are publicly available. Find information on those pages about candidates that you would not be able to ask about in an interview. For example, you look at a FaceBook page and see that an applicant is 55 years old and married.
For your writing assignment:
Take a screenshot/photo/etc. of the information you found. Identify the category of information- ie, age. Include that as an attachment to your writing assignment.
Debate both sides of the issues in your paper...that is, employers should view social media websites such as FaceBook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter as part of the recruitment process. Then, debate that employers shouldn't view social media websites such as FaceBook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter as part of the recruitment process. Incorporate the five social media postings in your writing assignment.
Discuss ways a company could use information from an applicant's social media post without running the risk of being accused of hiring discrimination.
