CASE STUDY
Cassandra is a 16-year-old female who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at the age of 10 weeks. Cassandra is supported by her mother and father and has one sibling, a brother aged 12.
Cassandra has been treated by the state children's hospital and community physiotherapy team for lung maintenance. She has recently been advised she needs to begin her transfer to the adult hospital system and will require a new multidisciplinary health care team. This is a stressful time for Cassandra, and she doesn't feel prepared for the transition.
Current issues:
- Shortness of breath and increased mucus production
- Fussy eater/loss of appetite
- Weight loss
- Back pain
- Constipation, bloating and stomach ache
- Anxiety
- Lack of stamina to engage in everyday activities such as shopping.
