Assignment:

Discuss the varieties of labor performed by slaves. How did working conditions vary based on the size of the plantation and the crop being produced? How did the work of enslaved women differ from the work of enslaved men and the work of urban slaves from rural slaves? Do these differences suggest that there is no single history of slavery but instead a number of histories of different types of slavery, or did slavery everywhere share enough fundamental characteristics to allow for generalizations about the institution? Please respond to at least two classmates's post for full points.
