Question: Constructive conflict takes place in a group when group members express disagreements that promote the group's goal. Discuss the types of behaviors that a group might utilize to guarantee that the conflict is constructive. What conflict management strategy is best applied to constructive conflict?

There are several behaviors that typically are constructive for small groups during conflicts to ensure growth. First, members can be supportive of each other. This is different than competing and creating toxic environments (Engleberg & Wynn, 2017). Next, building up being supportive, we want to collaborate with each other, and allow each member to be included in the discussion, not tear them down. A lot of times, members are inflexible. This is a destructive behavior because, during conflicts, they will not look at the situation from a different view (Engleberg & Wynn, 2017).

During conflicts, we want to be committed to the group and its groups, not indifferent-we want to use communication that is respectful and focused on making the group better. I do feel that a lot of the time, people get so focused on their own goals and lose track of what is best for the group.

I think the best approach to keep groups calm is to focus on anger management. There is so much ego in small groups that it can create tension. If we keep each member calm and collected, we can typically mitigate toxic communication and focus on reaching the group's goal.

Which strategy would you use?
