We will discuss the three approaches to data collection and analysis in research. Each serves a specific purpose when it comes to research and has its strengths and weaknesses. Before someone picks the approach they want to take, it's important to understand the objective that is trying to be achieved. Consider what you want to understand and measure when choosing to either use quantitative or qualitative or a mixture of both. Qualitative research is exploring and understanding the meaning individuals or groups attribute to social and human problems. The process involves emerging questions and procedures. The data is collected in the participant's settings and the researcher makes interpretations of the means of the data (Khaldi, 2017). The disadvantage of this research method is the subjectivity of the researcher.
