In Malaysia, sexual harassment, as defined by the Employment Act 1955, is "any unwanted conduct of a sexual nature, whether verbal, non-verbal, visual, gestural or physical, directed at a person which is offensive, humiliating or a threat to their well-being". The Act does not distinguish between male and female or employer and employee. As such, sexual harassment can be committed by a female against a male, or an employee against an employer.
With the global '#me too' movement taking a firm grip across the globe sexual harassment is becoming less and less tolerated. Critically discuss the steps that should be taken if sexual harassment is experienced in the workplace. As with many moral dilemmas there are opponents who oppose such movements. Using normative theories debate the opposing sides of legal sexual harassment protections. Justify your ethical stance on sexual harassment in the workplace.
