Case Study: The primary objective of this is to allow you to go beyond the headlines in the daily news and to examine analytical and rhetorical strategies used in the construction of a news media item in relation to a topic related to law and public policy. For this assignment, select a short, recent article (not older than 4 months) from the popular media (i.e., aimed at the general public not at experts or professional groups) such as CBC News, Globe & Mail, the NY Times, YouTube, blogs, etc and provide a critical analysis on the implications of the relationship between law and public policy. The media article should relate to one of the topics of the given. TOPICS: The relationship Between Law and Public Policy, The role of the Charter and institutions in public policy making, The role of the public in the making of "law and public policy", and Access to information transparency and Open Government.
