Steve refuses to work on Saturday, citing religious grounds. He is terminated. Steve sues the employer, alleging religious discrimination. The employer defends by saying that:

Steve was not a member of this religion when he was hired;
Saturday is not a valid Sabbath day; and
Any religious group that celebrates a Sabbath on Saturday is not a valid religion and the employer does not have to honor it.
