1, The Existence of God Overview

For centuries philosophers and theologians have grappled with "proofs" for or against the existence of God, at least partially, to help ground their ethical beliefs. Learning Outcomes To discuss the relationship between morality and religion.

Activity Description

Please discuss either: --whether you think religion has a positive or negative effect on morality or --whether you think the project of proving the existence of God is important and why.

These two questions below are the answer to the first question; present your own ideas or comment on the ideas

2, I think that the relationship between religion and morality is complex. In theory, religion serves and strengthens morality, but in fact, it is possible for religion to weaken morality by becoming something that individuals pursue for their own ends, e.g. to gain wealth, power, and reputation The reverse is also true; if the end goal of morality is to form a better and more just world, then the motivation for creating that positive change should not matter, whether the motivation comes from religion or from another source. The true measure of a progressive society is encouraging positive change no matter its source; the fact that societies of all backgrounds can make use of Greek ethics shows that the basic of good human behavior are the same across different societies and therefore provide a unified goal for humanity to strive for.

3, in my honest opinion I think that religion is good for morality. I grew up with religion but only from my grandparents my parents never really went to church. something that I learned that really stuck with me while growing up is that not everyone is perfect you can still be a good person even if you mess up. the church I grew up going to was founded by my grandmother and some of her closest friends who used to do bad things like drugs and drinking excessively. when founding this church, they agreed to accept everybody, and I think it was really good for me to grow up around all these people who have changed their lives in a good way. religion and God changed their Life's for the better and I think it is a good thing to believe in God.
