Question: James Reid underwent arraignment for the crime of Theft as he allegedly stole a basketball from Daniel Padilla. James Reid pleaded not guilty. Immediately thereafter, Pre-Trial commenced. James's lawyer, Mark Heras entered into stipulations during the pre-trial and admitted that James was not the owner of the subject basketball. The pre-trial was immediately printed and both parties and their counsel were furnished. After trial, James was convicted by the court based on the admissions of Mark Heras. James contends that he is not bound by the admissions of his counsel. The prosecution opposed James's contention.
