Assignment:
On the night of March 10, Miriam Barr shot and killed her sleeping husband. She was constantly subjected to physical abuse and had made multiple visits to the emergency room due to her injuries. Their children were not exempted from physical and verbal abuse. One day while her husband was at work, she went and bought an illegal gun from a youngster in their community. She took the gun home and carefully hid it. On the night in question, her husband came home, drunk as usual and verbally abused her and the children before having his dinner, threatening that he was going to take a nap then 'deal with them' when he got up. While he was asleep, she took the children to their neighbour's house then got the gun and shot her sleeping husband twice in his chest, killing him. When the police arrived at the scene, she told them that she had shot him in self-defence. She was arrested.
