The project planning process is important to the overall success of the project. The project planning process lays out the overall goal for the project along with the timeline, requirement, and all of the important details of the project. The project planning process also allows you to form a well put together and complete project proposal.

Without proper project planning it is easy to forget certain steps and details that could change the whole timeline or cost of the project. Project planning will allow you to lay out a timeline in detail and include when the phases of the project need to be completed in order for the whole project to move forward as scheduled.

These timelines are also important because without them people could get distracted with their day-to-day work activities and forget to do their part of the project. Having a project planned allows everyone to see the steps of the project and how important their role is to projects overall success. This helps to encourage people to get their parts done on time and allows everyone to help each other out if they can see that someone is falling behind.

Project planning involves four major steps: Initiation, planning, execution and closure. The project planning process is the main tool used to ensure that tasks are completed in a timely manner.

To ensure that a project has the best chance of success and risk of failure has been minimized, a plan is made to determine the most effective strategy for completion. It is important that project leaders understand the project process steps and tools in order to facilitate communication with their team members and ensure that all responsibilities will be handled.
