Directions: Choose a prominent national or regional incident of workplace or school violence (WPV/SV). After reviewing this act of violence, address the following:

1. Provide an introductory paragraph describing the incident to provide appropriate context to the scenario you have chosen.
2. Based on what you have learned to date in this class through your reading assignments and discussions, along with the supplemental research you conducted for this project, discuss the potential role that private security operatives would have played (or did play) in this incident given their various duties and responsibilities to prevent and respond to such occurrences and how this differs from the role of public security.
3. Identify and discuss any telltale signs observed prior to the incident occurring. Also, given that offenders who commit acts of violence in this manner often display inappropriate behaviors and/or engage in bizarre communications prior to an incident, using and documenting authoritative sources, examine the possible "warning signs" that should be considered by a security director and all employees, students, and others on site when attempting to anticipate and prevent WPV/SV events.
4. Discuss the specific measures that were put in place post incident in terms of physical asset protection. Additionally, using the risk management principles and concepts you have learned in class to date, discuss the actions you would take as a security manager to prevent and/or mitigate harm and loss resulting from this incident and other similar threats to the safety of employees, students, and all persons potentially requiring protection.
5. Discuss what you believe to be the most important factors to be considered in the realm of security management, security components and operational conditions in preventing incidents of workplace or school violence and why these are the most important. 6. Discuss what you believe to be the most significant administrative challenges that a security manager in incidents of workplace or school violence face, and how these challenges might be overcome. (Be sure to use course resources, as well as outside resources, to support your thoughts).
