Recording and Video Structure
You may record your video using whichever software you wish. There are a number of free software packages available. For example, OBS or Windows Game Bar.
Just remember that it is your responsibility to ensure that the video will be accessible for examiners and in a format that can be played easily without the installation of additional software
Videos should be a maximum of 30 minutes duration
You must include a camera feed of you in your presentation
This does not have to be for the entirety of the presentation but you must appear in the video for some time to evidence that you are the one giving the presentation
Videos should be structured as follows:
Presentation - suggested content is outlined later in this slide deck
Demonstration - a demonstration of your Application and its functionality OR a demonstration of your running scripts OR a demonstration of your website where your results are presented
Presentation Structure
Examiners can only mark what they have been given evidence of, this is your chance to evidence your work and highlight your best
Work to the Rubric (on Moodle) - some sections of the rubric are dealt with in other deliverables such as documentation or showcase deliverables
BSHC/BSHBIS - Difficulty, Innovation, Completeness, Implementation, Testing, Presentation, Technical Report, Supervisor Interaction, Showcase
BSHTM BA - Difficulty/Business Analysis Skills, Innovation, Supporting Technology, Completeness, Validation/Verification, Communication, Writing & Presentation of Results, Showcase
BSHTM DA - Difficulty/Data Analysis Skills, Innovation, Technology, Completeness, Testing/Evaluation, Communication, Writing & Presentation of Results, Showcase
The Order and Structure you use to address these items is completely up to you but here is some guidance for those who want it
Depending on your course/specialisation you will need to address things slightly differently so I will address each course in turn
Introduction - Start with an introduction to you and your project. Introduce yourself, your course, specialisation and your project title. (This will contribute to communication aspect of your rubric)
Project Overview- What is it? Who is it for? What does it do/What problem does it address? How is it different to existing applications/research/analysis? (This will set the scene for difficulty and innovation sections of the rubric)
Approach/Techniques/Technology Used - Technologies and data analysis techniques used throughout the project and why. (This will help to further address the difficulty, innovation and implementation sections of the rubric)
Results (this will help to address writing & presentation of results)
Demonstration - demonstrate your scripts running on the data. (this will help to address writing & presentation of results, completeness and difficulty/skills)
Testing & Evaluation - how did you test your analysis to ensure the validity of results?
A walkthrough of your script - talk through the most challenging aspect of your analysis and the scripts used to generate the results
In addition to all of the above, be mindful throughout of your presentation skills
Speak clearly, don't rush - perhaps record a short test of one slide first and listen back to ensure sound quality is good before recording the full presentation
Try to limit yourself to between 6 and 8 slides to cover all of the above points
Don't put everything you plan to say on the slide, too much text distracts from what you actually say
Ensure that your slides are error free and presented in a logical order - remember, you are telling a story so don't jump back and forth
Question 1. Discuss the most difficult aspect of your project with particular emphasis on those areas related to your chosen specialisation
Question 2. Discuss the most innovative aspect of your project. For example, with respect to your use of technologies or analysis techniques
Question 3. With respect to your requirement specification, what requirements have you since added, removed or changed and what impact has this had on the completeness of your project?
Question 4. Describe in detail, your approach to Testing & Evaluation of your results
Question 5. If you were to start your project again would you change any of the decisions you made? For example, in relation to data processing, data privacy, analysis techniques, technologies etc.
