Assignment:
I honestly just need some help trying to narrow down a topic to research for my class final. He has given us the ability to freely choose without any sort of real guidelines. I have to choose a topic for juvenile delinquency, but I'm not sure which to choose. I honestly want to research specific cases of events that have lead to laws being put into place for juveniles.
I was thinking about writing about Judge Donna Scott Davenport who illegally detained juveniles for petty things such as cussing at school or breaking school conduct. Would this fall under the suggestions that is given? Or if there is something more fitting, I'd really like to know about it if that's at all possible. Thank you.
The suggestions he has offered:
Media content analysis-select a media example (or examples) and analyze the content for themes related to juvenile delinquency constructions, theories, research, etc. This could be any media type--books (fiction or nonfiction), movies or TV shows, news media (print, internet, or TV), commercials or ads, or music videos. Apply theories and research to all themes and findings in your paper.
Policy paper-select a policy related to juvenile delinquency and analyze the history, theory/research application, process, any debates or critiques of the policy/application, and any evaluations of the policy. Conclude with recommendations for policy changes.
Literature review-select a topic of interest to you related to juvenile delinquency and conduct a review of empirical research and theories related to that topic. For this option, you must use at least 10 academic journal articles.
Cross-cultural or comparative paper--select a historical timeframe or country and provide a comparative analysis of the similarities and differences with a contemporary perspective in the US.
