Beer Ambassadors
Several years ago, the Beer Store invested $30 million as part of a plan to update its store branding. This involved building new stores and renovating existing ones. The plan was to open 13 new stores across Ontario and to renovate 61 existing stores. The new stores and those renovated were designed to fit a new Beer Store brand.
Part of the new Beer Store brand was to make the stores more efficient and customer-friendly and to improve the customer shopping experience. To improve the shopping experience the new and renovated stores would have better lighting and music and employees who will be more helpful. According to Beer Store president Ted Moroz, Beer Store customers want to walk around the stores so that they can see and touch the products.
Large stores will have an open layout that will allow customers to walk around the store and see the products as well as signs that indicate what foods go best with different beers. In small stores, customers will be able to use touch screens to find out details about different beers and to place their orders.
The investment also includes new training for employees or what the Beer Store refers to as "beer college" so that employees will learn how to provide a great shopping experience for customers. Employees will receive training on different products as well as customer relations. The plan is to make Beer Store employees beer "ambassadors" who will be able to discuss different types of beer with customers and what food goes best with different beers. Employees will receive new uniforms with the new Beer Store logo and various slogans such as "Beer Champion" and "Beer Enthusiast
