It is reasonable to expect that given growing wealth, the emergence of a middle class, access to modern conveniences, and so forth, the "emerging" countries of the world may experience exponential growth in energy consumption over the short to medium term. From data introduced earlier, these countries consumed 136 EJ of energy in 1990 and 198 EJ in 2004. Use these data pointsand the exponential curve to predict energy consumption in the year 2020.
