Assignment:
Include state of Arkansas Laws you will predict the consequences of various social, cultural, legal, and economic changes on family violence. You should consider changes in the prevalence or type of abuse, policy changes that are likely, and changes we might expect in terms of response to abuse. There may not be a right or wrong answer to this question, but you must defend your predictions using the textbook or material from this course. It is more important that you defend your answer than that you give the 'right' answer. Be sure to look at this issue broadly, considering different racial, gender, age, and religious categories, as appropriate. Your answer should be about five hundred words.
You must use material from this course in your answer, but you do not need to quote anything or include a full citation. What I am looking for:
1. Did your answer focus on the impact of the change on family violence? Please don't debate whether the policy or change is likely, whether it is ethical or whether it is legal. Just focus on how the policy would impact family violence. I purposely propose some absurd policy changes to test your critical thinking skills.
2. Is your answer well-organized and clearly written? Please take the time to organize a response--don't just start writing and see what happens.
3. Does your answer consider the impact of the policy on a wide variety of races, genders, ages, and religious categories? If you want to go above and beyond, do you consider the impact of the policy on sexual orientation, disability, or nationality? For example, if a change would lead to higher rates of divorce across the board, then you would likely see more family violence (because divorced couples have more family violence than married couples). But it would cause the biggest problems among white people (because white people are more likely to be married in the first place).
4. Does your answer reflect high quality critical thinking skills, including the ability to imagine an unusual situation, avoid bias, and make ducated guesses in a highly ambiguous situation?
