Students may choose from one of the topics provided below. Once you've identified the topic, write a narrative of the topic and create a PowerPoint presentation.

The narrative should be no more than 1 page summarizing the key points of your topic of interest and your major findings.

The PowerPoint presentation should be supported by resources and provide more detailed information about your topic.

Choose one of the following for this assignment:

I. Select a trend or issue in juvenile justice identified in course materials or in your course textbook. Use data sources to explain the issue and its continuing importance in juvenile justice. Discuss the impact and outcomes of the selected topic. As required, provide a written narrative and PowerPoint presentation highlighting your topic and information. Example topics may include gangs, substance abuse, abuse/neglect, cyberbullying, etc.

II. Discuss and present your professional role in the juvenile justice system. Provide a summary of the work you do within your profession, share your expertise and experience, explain your advocacy for youth, etc. As required, provide both a written narrative and PowerPoint presentation highlighting your profession and information required. If you do not currently work within the juvenile justice field, you may interview a working professional (not enrolled in this course) and provide their information in a narrative and PowerPoint presentation.
