SESSION 5 FINAL PROJECT 1ST DRAFT

The Final Project for this course will be to discuss the findings of a decision process audit and ultimately the recommendations as a result of this audit. (This audit and recommendations from it can be used to inform your final capstone project for this course). This decision process audit will either be considered for the organization you currently work for or an organization you are intimately familiar with (not too small, mid-sized would be appropriate).

Consider the decision process audit in chapter 8 of the text as your outline for this paper. You should write this paper in APA format and style. (Remember to use third person, even if you're discussing your own organization. You want to write as an outsider looking in).

This first outline should only contain a high level description of how you will work through each of the five steps identified in Figure 8.1: Overview of decision process audit. Discussing at a high level some of the things you'll be highlighting for each section should be included as well. A good practice for each section would be to introduce the reader to the concepts you will be covering including research and best practices found for that section. After you introduce the concepts to the reader, then lead into the ways that you will be utilizing these concepts for your own organization.

These five steps should be used as headers for this first draft paper. In addition to these sections, you should also include a section on continued process improvement, discussing best practices for continuous process improvement, quality, and potential updates to the DSS along the way because all DSS can become outdated quickly. It's important to call out how the system will be improved along the way.

This audit will inform the final paper that will discuss the report on findings and potential recommendations for improvements to the decision support system (DSS). You should also consider the resources from the other texts to inform data strategy for the organization and how business intelligence also plays into the decision support system.
