With the fall of most of the communist nations in the late 80's some heralded the victory of capitalism. Communism had been conquered. When Marx dreamed up his scheme of government/economy/society he also took the long view. He argued that the struggle between the two systems (capitalism and communism) would take many, many years to conclude. Near the time of that conclusion capitalism would be at its apex. It would appear to be in the final stages of ultimate victory. That is when Marx argued the proletariat would rise in revolution overthrowing capitalism to establish the permanent communist world. I'm going to argue that communism is not dead. It may have been poorly implemented by the nations that attempted it, but does that spell its end? Or, is it in one of those valleys that both systems will endure as the struggle continues. What are your thoughts?
