Assignment:
Introduction
For your everyday life as a radiologic technologist, you will most likely never see any medical images taken with film, but you may see some in the archives of imaging departments. Because it is important to understand how medical imaging works today, it is also essential to know the changes along the way. History can be educational as well as informational.
The purpose of this assignment is to research and explore the timeline of Radiography in medical imaging, focusing on how the standard has changed to the digital environment we know today. The goal is to discuss the improvements over time, and the advances made from the original discovery on November 8, 1895. Don't concentrate on the mechanics of the different imaging; demonstrate the improvements with each change in general radiography.
Instructions
For this assignment, write a 1 to 2 page paper that:
1. Describes how images were taken in the early days after Roentgen's discovery. Include the materials used, the time it took, and the image quality.
2. Identifies how early imaging methods evolved into using film and processors. Include the advantages that came from that transition.
3. Discusses the evolution from film to the first digital images. Include the advantages that change gave the technologist.
4. Explains how today's imaging systems differ from the first digital image. Include what happens at the workstation and how images can be manipulated
