Reflect on your ethical values and perspectives. How might your personal beliefs and experiences influence how you would navigate this challenging situation? I have never been in a situation where the ethical dilemma is tough to navigate. However, I have a personal belief that I am here to work with and listen to the patient to help provide quality care. Considering my lack of experience with this type of challenge and my personal beliefs, I would like to think that I'd first make sure I knew the laws regarding it and the facility policy. Then, I'd ask my superior if they had any recommendations before speaking to the patient and/or social worker. After asking for help, I'd go educate the patient on the policy, the laws, her rights, and then her options. It is important to me that my client feel safe and heard while disclosing such rough information. It is also important that my client feel that she has options and if the laws allow it, that I'd be willing to assist her while she is going through this tough time.
