Discuss your experience as it relates to one specific action you have done to improve your network. For instance, you can use this assignment to reconnect with an old friend, expand your professional network by attending a business event, or turn a contact who is a weak tie into a strong one. The action described in the paper must be something you have done after we discussed networks in the course.

Any action taken to improve your network socially or professionally is acceptable. But keep in mind that this is not an exercise for trying to sell more of a product/service. Networks should not be built for instrumental purposes.

Your write-up should be no more than 2 pages (single-spaced, 12-point font, 1" margins throughout) and include the following information:

• The Action:
o What action did you take to improve your network? (Be specific)
o Why did you take this action? (What weakness in your network were you addressing?)

• The Networking Tactics and Strategies Used:
o What networking tactics, strategies and concepts (from the course readings and

classroom discussion) did you plan to use when pursuing this course of action? (Be

specific.) • The Outcome:

o What was the outcome? Discuss the experience in detail and discuss the effectiveness of the networking tactics and strategies you used. (e.g., If you went to a conference, what were the interactions like between yourself and the other attendees? What happened when you tried to use ____ networking tactic?)

• Lessons Learned:o When engaging in a similar (networking-related) action in the future, what would youkeep the same and what would you do differently to improve the likelihood of achieving your goals?
