It is classified under Blunt trauma, which occurs when a chest strikes or is struck by an object. The external injury may appear minor, but internally may be severely damaged. Sternal Fracture can easily tear lung tissue. In a high-velocity impact, shearing forces can result in the tearing of the aorta. Compression of the chest may result in heart or lung contusion, crush injury, and organ rupture (Harding M. et al. 2023).
