Questions: Discuss the children's responses to music and movement experiences that take place in your field placement. Here are some ideas and questions to stimulate your thinking. How do the children respond to music and movement experiences? Do all the children participate in music activities (circle time, transitions, games, etc.)? Do the children engage with musical instruments in the classroom (if they are made available)? Do you see children moving their bodies to music?
Do you see children making music (either with their voices or instruments) during play when a teacher is not leading them? If recorded music is played, how do children respond? You need to give specific examples of your observations with as much detail as possible.
Back up your observations to what you have learned about in the lessons and readings from Modules 2, 3 and 4 to describe how the children use time, beat, rhythm, movement and space, dynamics, tempo, pitch-intonation, timbre, force, energy, melody and form.
Remember to use pseudonyms instead of the children's real names to protect their privacy. Be sure to identify the age group of your placement.
