The circulatory system or also known as the cardiovascular system, is known as an organ system that transports blood and nutrients around the body to help provide nourishment and maintain homeostasis. There are three types of vessels that belong to the circulatory system which include: arteries, capillaries, and veins. Arteries main job are to take blood away from the heart and to the bodies organs and tissues, the artery is strong and thick to be able to withstand high pressure from the force of the heart pumping blood. The main artery in the body is called the aorta. The blood serves a huge purpose for the body because it transports materials such as nutrients, wastes and hormones, these materials have to be distributed through the walls of vessels and there are very few places in which this occurs, capillaries. Capillaries are tiny thin-walled vessels that form a network to take blood through the organs and tissues. When we are talking about capillaries is like thinking of a business man because what the capillaries carry around the body then uses those nutrients in exchange to keep the body in homeostasis. There walls are about 0.2um and on average about 5um in diameter. Last but not least, are the veins, these vessels are thin-walled and flaccid, the are able to expand to be able to accommodate if the blood is to increase volume it will be able to take on the greater capacity. About 64% of the blood distribution of blood is through the veins, also known as venules. There are three types of venules: postcapillary, muscular, and medium. The circulatory system is like a road map on how the blood is taken away from the heart and put into good use so we can live the healthy life styles that we are meant to live.
