Assignment:
As part of the management team for the University of Phoenix, we are focused on staying competitive in the Education field. During, 2019-2020, the university experienced a small decline in enrollment rate. The University of Phoenix currently has 95k students enrolled. Undergraduate students, 77.3% of the students, has the highest population of online students. The goal that we are trying to achieve is to raise this number by 10% for the 2020-2021 school year.
In order to achieve desired results, the management team is focused on delivering a more appealing option to further education. This year, the university is focused on using cognitive processes to achieve desired results. The advertising team will be using memory formation, concept formation, pattern recognition, language, attention, perception, action, problem-solving ad mental imagery to deliver these results.
Memory/Concept formation- The goal of management is to build on the perception of the university. What is the university known for or would like to be known for ideally? Perceptions are everything, so it is critical to building on this idea. Our focus is to make a desirable and reputable place to achieve education goals. We will be building on accreditation of the university, by focusing on graduation rates and ease of attending goals.
Pattern Recognition/Mental Imagery- The phoenix is the logo/symbol for the university. The goal is to give it more visibility in what it stands for-using strength and renewal as a catching phrase to make the association with education (Language). We plan to give the logo more focus so that it is more easily identifiable. It is perhaps making the logo more mobile to enhance our senses. This idea also aids in visual encoding and memory recognition.
Judgement Formation
Our goal in judgment formation is to utilize real-life experiences to attract new students. As previously stated, perceptions are everything, and the plan is to elaborate on this. Perspective, so defined, can take several forms, including the ability to see both short- and long-term consequences (often referred to as "time perspective"), the ability to see how one's actions or decisions affect others (often referred to as "role taking" or "perspective taking"), and the ability to place one decision in the context of others, as when multiple costs and benefits of a single course of action are considered simultaneously-the "cost-benefit calculus" (Scott et al., 1995as cited in Steinberg & Cauffman, 1996).
By focusing on time perspective, the goal of management is to focus on the time frame to achieve the desired result. Such as, "your time, you decide," this will concept places the person in control of the timeframe, implying that it can take less time to get desired results. Under cost-benefit, the focus is to shine a light on the cost reduction for the same degree. The university, in this case, can shine a light on the 20% to 25% savings for opting to choose the University of Phoenix.
People rely on word of mouth information and personal accounts for information. It is no wonder that advertisers use personal accounts for advertising. The plan for the university is to do the same through commercials and on-site educational facilities. The goal is to be present during college nights in high schools and share success stories. Additional information can be shared, along with money savings and school accreditation programs.
