Diversity is important for various reasons in an organization. Diversity involves being inclusive which is essential when it comes to profits and revenue. Building diversity increases profits due to the productivity that comes with being diverse. Employee engagement leads to better retention with a brand reputation. This is due to employees typically being happier in environments that are all inclusive. Being diverse also becomes a benefit when solving complex problems. With a diverse amount of people there an increase in critical thinking leading to solutions to the complex problems. It also increases the creativity within the workplaces because it brings different insights and perspectives together to increase productivity. It makes for an increased number of experiences that creates better resolutions. Motivation is increased when influencing the performance of other sets of employees. Also, when diversity is included, it makes for a better reputation for that organization. When diversity is promoted, they're perceived as more relatable and more responsible which gives the company a positive reputation. There can also be negatives that come from diversity, one being communication. Challenges in communication due to the diversity in the group can lead to delays in the decision-making process and drawbacks of improper execution of the task at hand. Another negative that can come from diversity is hostility and conflict between individuals. This conflict can create a hostile environment which will negatively impact the productivity of the company. Another negative aspect is the chances of misinterpretation which may lead to assumptions. These assumptions can harm the interests of the minority class within the organization.
There are also potential relationship conflicts that can occur when diversity is included. Another large possibility that comes with diversity is discriminatory issues and team biases. These issues would destroy the idea of teamwork and creativity, leading to negative effects within the company.
