Question

Recruitment and selection processes have changed dramatically over the past several decades. Gone are the days of placing job advertisements in a newspaper's classified ads section to attract talent. Organizations now use advance technology to identify and recruit talent. An area of recruitment that has seen this surge of technological advancement has been recruitment sourcing. Sourcing is a precursor to actual recruitment. During the sourcing phase of recruitment, active and passive candidates are identified through a range of various "sourcing channels" (e.g., the web, social media-Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and blogging sites). Once identified, these candidates are contacted to discuss organizational opportunities.

For HR professionals to recruit and hire workers who meet the needs of the organization, they must convince and encourage these workers to apply for open positions.
