MARKET PLAN ASSIGNMENT -
Nurses use a framework of the nursing process that is immersed in the research evidence to guide plans for all levels of patient and family care. This assignment requires you to think from a marketing perspective to and combine the nursing process and evidence with business feasibility to plan, implement, and evaluate a planned change project. The first step is to understand the needs and wants of a target population or market in order to design a service or create a system change that will meet the needs of our healthcare consumers. Remember, consumers can be a patient, physician, nurse colleagues, a healthcare enterprise, pharmaceutical companies, insurer, service contracting with outside businesses educational systems, or a family relative. As a nurse, you are able to analyze new technologies and pharmaceutical innovations, population trends, evidence-based research and global opportunity. As an advanced practice nurse, you will have unique opportunities beyond today's practice boundaries. This assignment give you an opportunity to be innovative and to think out of the box (i.e. design thinking). Take your knowledge and practice expertise and move into the role of a leader and a healthcare business entrepreneur (remember, nurses are social entrepreneurs at heart).
In this assignment, each student will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of basic healthcare marketing principles in a first draft marketing plan. The healthcare marketing plan should incorporate the role of an APRN into some type of product or service delivery directed at one or multiple levels of healthcare consumers. The goal in this assignment is to present an initial market plan but NOT a finished product suitable for implementation. Hopefully, once you complete this assignment, you can proceed to complete the business planning exercise.
