Kelly Manufacturing is a medium-sized company that manufactures and markets a range of products. The divisions of Kelly include Whitegoods, Kitchenware and Outdoor Furniture Divisions. The senior management team oversees the budgeting process, and includes the managing director, the financial controller, the manufacturing director and marketing director. Jack Kohler, the managing director for Kelly Manufacturing, recognises the importance of the budgetary process for planning, control and motivation. He believes that a properly implemented process of participative budgeting and management by exception will motivate managers and their subordinates to improve productivity within their particular divisions.
Based upon this philosophy, Jack has implemented the following budgetary procedures:
Problem 1. Discuss the advantages of participative budgeting.
Problem 2. Discuss the limitations of participative budgeting.
Problem 3. Identify and briefly explain at least TWO (2) deficiencies in Kelly's budgetary process.
Problem 4. For each of the deficiencies outlined in question 3 recommend how each identified deficiency can be corrected.
Evaluate Method of measuring costs associated with production, budgeting process, normal job-order costing system , master budget, cycle time.
Prepare the journal entries to record the bond issue and interest expense.
Write a report on given case study and Advise as to the liability of ALL the parties both under common law and the Corporations Law.
