Question: Taking advantage of symmetry, determine joint displacements and axial forces in the three-bar truss shown in Figure. All members have the same cross-sectional area and are of the same material, A = 0.001 m2 and E = 2000Pa. The load P =20kN. The dimensions in meters are shown in the figure. One of the goals for this problem is for you to learn the correct use of symmetry. Thus no credit will be given if you do not-use symmetry even if your solution is correct.
