The core premise of triangulation as a design strategy is that all methods have inherent biases and limitations, thus the use of only one method to assess a given phenomenon will inevitably yield biased and limited results. The principle of triangulation pertains to the goal of seeking at least three ways of verifying or corroborating a procedure, piece of data or finding. For example, Patton (2002a, p.247) discusses triangulating among:

i. Data sources ( data triangulation);

ii. Investigators who have worked on the same study team (investigator triangulation);

iii. Perspectives about the same dataset (theory triangulation); and

Iv. Methods (methodological triangulation).

Critically discuss the above four perspectives of triangulation, with relevant illustrative examples.
