For this paper, I am asked to discuss about a social issue of affordable housing in Toronto Canada that I do care about that impacts people and with newcomer immigrants and refugee communities ,I am connected to (either personally or through volunteer work experiences or both), and to consider how this issue is connected to existing social policies of Ontario Provincial government of Canada.

  1. First describe the social issue of affordable housing in Toronto Canada and my connection to it, myself is newcomer immigrant in Canada and I have been in touch with many other newcomer immigrant families - why is this issue important to me because of so many socio-economic factors and issues these the newcomer immigrants and refugee communities are connected to? How did I learn about this social issue from these newcomer immigrant communities and what informs my knowledge of it?
  2. Next, consider what policy or policies shape this social issue of affordable housing in Toronto Canada. How much do I currently know about these policies at Provincial level and at Federal level in Canada? What would I like to know more about?
  3. Finally, describe my vision of a positive change for the people and communities affected by the social issue of affordable housing in Toronto Canada. What kinds of current 2024 policy changes do I think would contribute to creating this change by the Ontario Provincial government and Federal government of Canada as well as private sectors in housing construction in Ontario?
