Assignment Objective

The students are encouraged to conduct a research on the network management tools and concept to develop their skills and knowledge. Moreover, summarizing a research paper in the research subject and develop strategies for implementing network management services.

Assignment Tasks

1) Task 1 - Submit a work proposal for this assignment on or before 11/11/2020 (23:59) which must include:
• Understanding of deliverables - a detail description of deliverables.
• General overview of proposed plan - initial understanding of solution to task2.
• Timeline for completion of the given tasks.
The work proposal must be submitted in a word file through the link available in Moodle.

Task 2.a:

Through a case study critically evaluate the implementation of a Network Management system from the point of view of cost effectiveness, work overhead and functions and functionalities.

Task 2.b.:

ABC is a small company. It has a centralized architecture where in only one Element Management System is in place. As shown in the following topology the router plays the role of the probe.

As a network Manager in this company, you are requested to complete remotely a number of monitoring tasks and configurations on the probe:

Using SNMP, complete the following:

• Configure SNMP on the probe
• Check sysName and sysDescr of the router
• Display the number and content of the table interfaces

Task 2.c Provide a report on the different Network Management architectures (Centralized, distributed and hierarchal).
