Problem: In 1760, following the signing of the Treaty of Paris, virtually all of North America that had been French was suddenly British. The might have been the beginning of long-standing British control over a vast empire based on raw materials, agriculture, and manufacturing connected by unfettered Atlantic trade. Yet in less than a decade revolution was in the air.
