ASSIGNMENT:
1. Select three of the human resources-related organizations listed in Recruitment and Selection Notebook 1.4. Visit each source's website to find information related to recruitment and selection. Report your findings by answering the following questions for the 3 chosen organizations. What are its stated Vision, Mission, and Values, and how do they (or should they) link with the organization's recruitment and selection practices?

2. There are a lot of challenges with having an unstructured interview. Your task is to find an unstructured interview in a movie, or TV show that you can add the URL to this assignment then answer the following questions. Is this a reliable interview/will the panel members provide similar ratings of the candidate? Is this a valid interview/will the ratings of this candidate predict how well they will do on the job if hired?

3. Please review Figure 2.1, Job Analysis, Selection, and Criterion Measurements of Performance: A Systems Approach, to review the steps involved in hiring a police constable. Answer following questions: What are some of the major elements of the process? What questions do you have? Review each of the steps in the selection process for the Toronto police in Recruitment and Selection Today 2.1 and comment on them in this question.
4. Develop discriminatory and non-discriminatory interview questions. Write them down here and determine which questions are appropriate and which ones are not. See Table 3.2, Guidelines to Screening and Selection in Employment, for guidance.

5. Would the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms prohibit an employer from putting in place a selection system that favored women over men in the hiring process? Could such discrimination ever be justified under the Charter? Please research the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and provide your best explanation.

6. Choose two of the job analysis techniques summarize the major elements of the technique along with its advantages and disadvantages

7. Why is a job analysis essential to the defence of any selection process or selection system?

8. Research different types of performance appraisal forms. As part of the research, you need to show us what the type is, and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the different performance appraisal forms. Which appraisal form is the best one to use with respect to reliability and validity?

9. In Chapter 5 they discuss task performance, contextual performance, adaptive behaviour, and counterproductive behaviour. Discuss the role each of these plays in developing a recruitment and selection system.

10. If you were limited in selecting employees based on only one of the four types of performance discussed in chapter 5, which one would you choose? Why?
