Choose an ethical problem from our everyday life. This could be a major ethical controversy (abortion, border security, police brutality, mandatory vaccinations, etc.) or it could be a particular situation you've encountered in your life (should I violate the rule if it would benefit someone?). Feel free to make up a situation that could occur if you like. Discuss what the issue is, and what argument could be presented on both sides. Then, offer your own solution to the problem, determining what the "right" thing to do is. In doing so, incorporate one of the readings we have done in class to support your argument.

For instance, you could use Hobbes' Leviathan to discuss ethical problems of policing, or you could use Cassirer's "Political Myth" to discuss a political issue, or you could use Boccaccio's Decameron to discuss a medical problem. Whatever reading best illustrates or supports your case is the one you should choose.
