Propose and Discuss Performance Solutions with Professionals
This task requires you to propose and discuss the performance solutions that you have identified in Task 2.1 with professionals.
You must complete Task 2.1 before proceeding with this task.
Steps to take:
1. Access and review all the Performance Solutions you have identified from ask Task 2.1.
2. Locate the Communication Log provided for you in the following pages.
The Communication Log will be used to document how you proposed and discussed the Performance Solutions.
3. Consult with your supervisor regarding opportunities for you to contact the following professionals to propose and discuss all the Performance Solutions in each of the project plans with:
i. Design professional
ii. Building professional
iii. Construction professional
Review the instructions here and the contents of the Communication Log with your supervisor so you can prepare before contacting each professional.
4. Contact each professional and propose and discuss each of the Performance Solutions from Task 2.1.
When proposing Performance Solutions, you must present the Performance Solutions you have identified.
When discussing the Performance Solutions, you must get the opinions or feedback of the professionals regarding the Performance Solutions.
Your discussions of the Performance Solutions must correspond with the following professionals:
i. Design Professional
a. Energy efficiency
b. Health and amenity
c. Access and egress
ii. Building Professional
a. Fire protection
b. Ancillary provisions
iii. Construction Professional
a. Services and equipment
b. Structure
Ensure that your communication with professionals is effective. For your communication to be effective, you must be:
i. Concrete
Being concrete involves communicating information that is based on fact.
ii. Coherent
Being coherent involves communicating information in a logical manner.
iii. Clear
Being clear involves communicating information in a straightforward manner, using short words and sentences that are direct to the point.
iv. Complete
Being complete involves communicating information that will not lead the professional to assume anything.
v. Courteous
Being courteous involves communicating information in a way that is professional and non-offensive.
Your assessor will base the effectiveness of your communication on the five elements listed above.
When contacting the professionals, you must use at least two of each of the following:
- Digital tools
- Digital devices
Furthermore, you must produce proof of communication with each professional that can be saved digitally, such as an e-mail chain (in PDF format), a video recording, or a call recording.
Digital tools refer to the programs or software that facilitate communication, such as messaging apps and e-mail.
Digital devices refer to the devices where the programs or software are installed, such as personal computers, laptop computers, and smartphones.
5. Complete the Communication Log after proposing and discussing all the Performance Solutions with all the professionals.
For each professional consulted, use the Communication Log to document the following:
i. Proof of proposal
You must indicate the filename of the proof of proposal.
ii. Proof of discussion
You must indicate the filename of the proof of discussion.
iii. Digital tool used to consult each professional
You must use at least two different digital tools across all consultations
iv. Digital device used to consult each professional
You must use at least two different digital devices across all consultations
6. Have your supervisor review the following:
a. Your completed Communication Log
b. All the evidence you will be submitting along with the Communication Log
