Find clinical correlations that relate to both the digestive and respiratory systems.

Discuss one clinical correlation for each system.

Description must include what the pathology is and which anatomical structures are affected.

Provide some idea of clinical signs and ensure that you explain how the clinical signs are related to the pathological changes seen in normal anatomy.

For example - asthma would be a clinical correlation that you could relate to the respiratory system. Asthma is characterized by bronchoconstriction due to inflammation and irritation of both the respiratory mucosa and the smooth muscle layer of the bronchi. Patients present with shortness of breath, coughing, wheezing, and (in severe cases) suffocation. Irritation of mucosa and spasmodic reaction of the smooth muscle both contribute to a decreased lumen, restricting the movement of air through the bronchi.
