Even though some of you will not be engaging with human participants, all the articles we read and include in reviews also must treat participants ethically. Whether you are collecting your own data or reviewing others' data, you'll need to be aware of APA ethical guidelines. I want you all to discuss the notion of minimal risk when using human participants in social scientific research. If you have not settled on a topic, ask the class for feedback about your options and incorporate ethical concerns into your discussion in terms of pros and cons of those topics.

Reading the document "Defining Minimal Risk". You are to examine the peer reviewed literature on the subject of minimal risk and discuss your views regarding the appropriate level of risk when using human subjects in scientific research.
