Case: You are a nurse in Dr. Smith's office. Mr. Jenkins has called in the office with complains of a dry cough, temperature of 100 degrees, and mild shortness of breath. He has a history of asthma, but has not had a flare up for years. The physician suspects a mild case of COVID 19 and recognizes that most people with COVID-19 have mild illness and are able to recover at home. The physician has recommended that the patient get plenty of rest, and stay well hydrated. He is to isolate himself as much as possible from family and have a separate bedroom and bathroom. He is to cover their face with a mask when interacting with other family members. Lastly, the patient is instructed that if he is having increased difficulty breathing or fever, to seek medical attention, but call first. The provider recommends Mr. Jenkins to take acetaminophen 500mg PO q6 hours, prn for a fever and has ordered the following medications from the pharmacy. The nurse will phone those in to Star pharmacy to have them deliver to the home:

Beclomethasone Inhaler 1 puff bid
Dextromethorphan 10 mg q4 PRN cough
Albuterol inhaler q 6 hours PRN shortness of breath

The provider has asked you to discuss these medications with the patient. please give your patient instructions on his medications.
