In recent years the American people have been having a discussion on how to deal with the issue of illegal immigration into the United States. It was even a topic in the 2008 Presidential campaign. While this issue was often restricted to border states in the past, today it is a hot topic in virtually every state.

One part of this discussion deals with what can be done to stop new illegal immigrants from entering the country.

This week we will tackle an even more difficult issue - what should be done with those illegal immigrants that are already in the United States.

One of the topics that may be included in our discussion is the economic impact illegal immigrants have on the United States. Examples of some "solutions" that have been suggested include: making a concerted effort to locate the illegal immigrants and deport them, giving them the ability to become citizens, and/or granting amnesty.

Feel free to select any relevant topic related to the issue of illegal immigrants who are currently in the U.S. Opinion is not enough and you must be very careful to respect the opinions of your classmates. The purpose of this discussion is to better understand the complexities of the situation as it exists today, not assign blame.
