Problem

Yesterday, at the end of his evening basketball practice, Jack found out that his team has made it into the semi-finals of the local competition at the end of the month, but he has one large university assignment due the day after the competition. He was very annoyed, and stressed, upon finding out about the timing of the competition, as he knows he is going to have to miss some training sessions, and possibly even miss the competition, due to having to work long hours on his assignment.

Use understanding of the autonomic nervous system to explain the anatomy and physiology of the physiological changes that were occurring at the time when Jack was stressed. Ensure that your response includes the changes in multiple body systems. Include a description of any of these changes that could be detected by someone without using any medical equipment.

Guidance for students. Consider all relevant aspects of Jack's case information, and the question, in your response. Describe and discuss integration between multiple body systems as relevant to the scenario (multiple = two or more systems). Ensure that you include specific focus on the response in TWO body systems - one of these must be either the respiratory or cardiovascular system, and the second body system is ANY body system of your choice.
