Most American jurisdictions provide for the waiver, or transfer, of juvenile offenders to the criminal courts.

• Explain why waivers are used and the societal impacts.
• Briefly review the five types of waivers and discuss the possible impacts of a youth being waived to adult court.
• Discuss if you agree with the ability to waive and child. If so, under what circumstances?
• Should there be an age restriction on waivers? Or, do you believe all juvenile cases should remain in juvenile court. If so, why?
