For this Discussion, you will all take the roles of Human Services Case Managers at an agency that serves immigrant families from Latin America. You are in a team meeting to brainstorm ideas for how to handle your clients' late arrivals to appointments at the agency. Clients have always arrived late but until now, you all have been able to re-arrange your schedules to make sure everyone is seen--even when it meant that you stayed late--sometimes several hours after normal agency hours.
That is no longer an option, though. The problem now is that you have a funding government partner that holds a Zoom meeting with all of you you each day starting at 4:30. The meeting is to review cases from that day and is essential to getting the funding needed for client services. Their funding is tied to the daily appointment schedule. When clients are not seen on the day they are scheduled, you are not able to get resources for them. You cannot schedule after your Zoom meeting report--because the Zoom meeting closes out that day's client list.
